Fundamentally a costume and set designer most famous for his
work for the Ballets Russes, his Illustration has a huge concentration on
prints and patterns and the use of printed fabrics in his costume designs.
He draws inspiration from almost all cultures and expresses
the decoration and print on his costumes in great detail and such meticulous
effort.
It was more his use of colours and geometric designs that
inspired me, but it is also an interesting link between the worlds of illustration
and pattern design.
